Webshop Engine: our bespoke e-commerce engine

Webshop Engine is the online-shop engine developed by LBO Dev for businesses that sell both to professionals (B2B) and to consumers (B2C). Conceived as a complete white-label foundation, it is deployed for each client under their own identity, with their own data, and grows through modules you can switch on as you wish.

The need

A wholesaler in the food sector needed to offer its professional clients a genuine online shop: prices negotiated per client, ordering by packaging unit, cold-chain management through to delivery, compliant invoicing and payment on invoice. Off-the-shelf solutions proved either too rigid or too costly to adapt to these precise business rules. So we designed a bespoke engine, tailored to these requirements, and built from the outset to be reusable by other businesses.

One engine, many deployments

Webshop Engine owes its strength to its architecture: a single, robust, versioned core from which we deploy as many shops as we have clients, each isolated and personalised. Every business gets a platform in its own image — its theme, its catalogue, its rules — without starting from a blank page. As development costs are amortised across the shared core, each client enjoys a high level of functionality for a controlled investment.

On top of this foundation come modules you can switch on, like so many options you plug in as needed. A shop can start out simple, then activate professional pricing, stock release, logistics or analytics tools as it grows.

A complete e-commerce foundation

The Webshop Engine core covers every stage of a professional online sale.

Catalogue at scale

A navigable category tree, attributes and faceted filters, advanced search — up to several thousand references.

B2C and B2B accounts

Price tiers tied to the client's profile, prices excl. or incl. VAT as the case requires.

Basket and order

A permanent basket, a checkout journey suited to the professional, tracking of the order status through to dispatch.

Real-time stock

Quantities reserved at order time and released from stock at dispatch.

Bespoke delivery

An extensible delivery engine (transport capacity, cold chain), free shipping thresholds and minimum order value.

Tax handling

VAT per product and intra-EU reverse charge, for compliant trade in Belgium, Luxembourg and France.

Invoicing & settlement

Purchase order and tax invoice as PDF, payment on invoice or by transfer with a structured reference.

Full back-office

Accounts, credit, settlements, dispatches and modules, with fine-grained rights and reinforced authentication (2FA) for administrators.

Modern storefront

A fast React interface, installable as an application (PWA), with a professional dashboard for the client.

Modules you can switch on à la carte

Beyond the foundation, Webshop Engine extends through independent modules. Each has its own dedicated page.

A demand for quality and security

A tool that handles orders and payments leaves no room for approximation. Webshop Engine is built to strict standards: coverage by automated tests, static code analysis, protection against request forgery (CSRF), role-based access control and two-factor authentication for administration. Every go-live follows a dedicated hardening procedure.

The technologies

Webshop Engine rests on a modern, high-performance stack: a recent PHP back-end, a React interface in TypeScript, a fast in-memory basket (Redis) and a containerised environment (Docker) ensuring reliable, reproducible deployments. It is this same technical standard that we bring to all our bespoke development projects.
